Cinder is one of the orphans taken in to work in the Gardens. He is the last to arrive, and eventually leads the escape attempt. Alongside your group, he scratches out a living in the City for some time. He is a character in Eternal City.
Although he is invited to join the Cagers, he refuses to do so. Once he feels that you will all be taken good care of by the Cagers, he leaves your group, citing his feelings of guilt for not taking better care of you and your friends.
History[]
Cinder was born in the Squats, where he lived with his parents and his younger sister, Silt, of whom he was very protective. When Cinder was an older child or a young teenager, his sister died from unknown causes. After his sister's death, Cinder ran away from home. After meeting his parents, you suspect their constant fighting drove Cinder to a life on the streets, though you don't know whether their fighting began after Silt's death or if he simply had no reason to continue putting up with it after he longer had his sister to protect.
Unlike the other orphans, Cinder was not brought to the Garden as a very young child. Rather, Bezoar brought him on as an older child or a young teen, which left him with many clear memories of life in the City outside. Although initially complacent and cooperative with his new life, after several years, Cinder becomes anxious to leave. He leads you and your friends on an escape attempt, during which you are severely injured.
When you and your friends finally escape the Garden, Cinder helps you all to establish a life on the streets of the City, which he still largely remembers. Once your group begins to be targeted by other street gangs, he encourages you all to take apprenticeships with the Cagers. Once you and your friends have agreed to join, he reveals that he will not be coming with you. He leaves the next morning, and you do not see him during your apprenticeship.
Appearance[]
Cinder has dark brown, very curly hair. He has dark brown skin and dark brown eyes. He wears brown, front-lacing pants and a lighter shirt which is riddled with holes.
Personality[]
At first, Cinder is calm and unflappable. He takes his arrival to the Garden in stride and answers your friends' questions about the outside world but does not seem to miss it. After a few years in the Garden, he begins to become anxious to leave, eventually instigating an impulsive escape attempt.
Once outside of the Garden, he seems to regain much of his clear-headedness and practicality. He helps your group to establish a life in the City and shows his willingness to do what has to be done to keep you all safe, such as suggesting you find people (such as family or a guild) to take Page off of your hands when your destitution starts to drive your group toward a life of crime.
Cinder feels great pressure to be a leader and protect his friends, which he says is probably due to him being the oldest. He feels significant guilt and blames himself for his own perceived failures as a leader. He seems to envy your natural ability to rally and direct the others, and often falls into self-comparison.
